Sharon Coriaty - KYTA

The concept for teaching Kripalu Yoga to the community started nearly 8 years ago. " I knew what an impact Yoga had on my life and I wanted to share that experience with my students.  So many people swallow their emotions and ignore the signals their bodies send them about the true state of their health."

Sharon is a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher obtaining a 200 hour certification through Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox, Ma.  With a strong background in Aerobics and Pilates, she encourages her students to work at their own pace finding a practice that they can incorporate into their daily lives.

She currently leads classes for the Mansfield Community Center, Muse La Belle Artiste in Coventry and Storrs Yoga Center.  She has held workshops and enrichment programs for ECSU and the University of Connecticut.

Sharon resides in Willimantic, Ct with the loves of her life,  her children Spencer and Kelsey, and her husband Jay.

Q: Is Yoga a religion?
Yoga is a practice for self development and self awareness. Some of us find this a 'spiritual' experience. In any case Yoga feels good and is a healthful experience. Physical  Yoga was traditionally taught in preparation for more esoteric studies as it was believed that personal growth should be founded in physical and emotional good health. We do have some classes that more spiritually focused than others.

Q: What is Kripalu Yoga?
Yoga is a sanskrit word meaning union. It offers us a chance to reconnect with the subtle expressions of our body, mind and emotions. Thousands of years ago, the yogis developed yoga postures by observing the movements of animals in the wild. Each posture provides its own unique benefits as it builds grace and self confidence. Kripalu hatha yoga uses a heart-centered approach. After introducing the details of proper alignment, the focus becomes our inner experience. Kripalu hatha yoga builds flexibility and strength at the same time as it cultivates self awareness and compassion.

"There has never been a time when you and I have not existed, nor will there be a time when we will cease to exist....

As the same person inhabits the body through childhood, youth, and old age, so too at the time of death he attains another body...

The wise are not deluded by these changes.."      Bhagavad Gita
